Principal's Bio

Dr. Michael Rolinitis

Dr. Rolinitis grew up in central Illinois and attended Illinois State University graduating with a bachelor of science degree in Art Education.  After working as a substitute teacher for a short time, he began working as the Art Teacher and softball coach in Wilmington High School and Stevens Middle School in Wilmington, Illinois.

After a brief time teaching Art in the Troy school District, Dr. Rolinitis completed his Master of Science in General Administration at ISU and returned to Stevens Middle School as the Assistant Principal. Two years later, he became the principal of Stevens Middle School where he stayed for the next six years.

For the next stop on his journey, Dr. Rolinitis took on the role of primary school principal of Aroma Park Math Magnet School in Kankakee, Illinois where he learned a great deal about elementary reading instruction and response to intervention models. He was transferred Kankakee Junior High School to lead their restructuring initiatives and was highly successful.

After leading the junior high in Kankakee, he took on the position of Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Programs.  In June of 2009, Dr. Rolinitis came to Mokena Junior High School to be the principal and has been here serving the students of Mokena ever since.  He earned his doctoral degree from University of St. Francis in Joliet in May of 2015. 

Dr. Rolinitis lives in Mokena with his wife and daughter.
