The Mokena Junior High Positive Impact Team is partnering with the American Red Cross for our 3rd Annual Blood Drive. The blood drive will be held on February 4th from 1-6pm at MJHS. 8th Grade Tech and Design students are shrinking the job site down to size in their architecture unit! Our future architects and engineers dove into the world of residential design by constructing models. To keep things precise, they worked at a 3/4" = 1' scale, which means for every 3/4 inch on their model, there is one full foot of real-world space!
Seeing these designs move from a 2D sketch to a 3D model was incredible. Each student was responsible for measuring and building one wall for their group model. From roof pitches to door placements, our students mastered the fundamentals of construction one inch (or 3/4 inch!) at a time!

6th grade music students have started their world drumming unit!
❄️ Today was Kinderbuddies Day or should we say KinderSNOWbuddies Day! Snowbuddies made a snowmen craft together and went on a hunt for words that start with "s" just like snowman! These activities were a perfect fit for today's weather! ☃️

Our third through eighth students enjoyed amazing winter performances at the junior high yesterday! From the bands and orchestras to the choir and poms, their festive spirit and talent were on full display! It was a wonderful way to bring our students together to celebrate the season!

At last night's Board of Education meeting, six 8th grade students shared their IMPRESSIVE work from Tech and Design Class. Emily, Katelyn, and Bailey shared the apps they created and programmed as part of the "Apps Creators" unit . Gianna, Rand, and Chloe shared their architectural designs as part of the "Green Architecture Unit". We can't wait to see what the future holds for these young women in STEM!
