Mokena SD 159's Orchestra had the honor of being represented by bass player Grant Montgomery, as he took part in the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra's All-Star Wars concert! He got to rehearse with Maestro Stilian Kirov, 30 local all-star student musicians, and 35 professional IPO musicians and performed two concerts for many students, including the MIS's music department who supported him on a field trip.

Each year our history teachers sponsor a recycled materials Earth Day project. Students use found materials to create historic items. We are giving prizes for, Most Creative, Best Use of Recycled Materials, and Historical Significance. T

At last night's Board of Education meeting, six 6th grade scientists shared their learning about ecosystems. The students did a fantastic job explaining the Ecosystems Unit they have been engaged with, the pond ecosystems they have created in class, the concepts they have learned, and their field trip extension.

A group of 8th graders participated in Student Government Day yesterday by engaging in hands-on experiences to learn about our village's government. They spent time with village trustees learning about planning, budgeting, and what each department does. They had an amazing tour of the new police station and then participated in a mock village board meeting. Thank you to the Mokena village for supporting this wonderful opportunity for our students!

⭐ Attention 2025-2026 kindergarten families! Please save the date for kindergarten informational night! ⭐
6th graders extended and applied their science learning about pond ecosystems through a field trip to the Three Rivers Environmental Center! Students explored this local ecosystem, gathered aquatic animals to observe, and performed water quality tests to name a few activities.
Thank you to our families, students, and community members who came out last night to support Volley for a Cure. Our community raised $2,845 for the Cancer Support Center of Mokena!
Thank you to our staff members who played or volunteered to work the night and to the Mokena Fire and Police Departments who provided us some competition.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Blank as she coordinated her last Volley for a Cure after many years of doing so. Her impact from this event on our community has been tremendous and will continue to be felt for years to come. We hope you will be back next year in your retirement to cheer us on!
