As our 8th grade students wrap up their last month in Mokena SD 159, we asked them to submit a shoutout to a staff member who has had an impact on them during their time in the district. In honor of Staff Appreciation Week, we will be sharing some of these shoutouts throughout the week to celebrate the influence our staff members have had on our students over the last nine years!

The Illinois Principals Association (IPA) anually recognizes outstanding student leaders across Illinois. Today, six of our district students were celebrated! MES students Knox M. and Delilah G, MIS students Finley D. and Sean M. , and MJHS students Jacob L. and Morgan M. joined our schools' principals and their families for an awards breakfast at the Renaissance Center in Joliet. Congratulations to these remarkable students!





Thank you to everyone who came out to the "Hoopin' for Inclusion" event last night as Mokena staff faced the incrediable athletes from Lincoln-Way Special Recreation Association!










Congratulations to 8th grade student, Kaylan C., as she was recognized by Lincoln-Way High School District 210 as "The Outstanding Language Learner" for Mokena School District 159. This award recognizes one 8th grade student from each feeder elementary district who has excelled in establishing a great beginning on the path to language biliteracy. We look forward to seeing the great things you will do in your future with all you have learned about the Spanish language at MJHS!

6th grade students enjoyed giving their frogs a new home in their pond ecosystems!

The Hoopin for Inclusion Fundraiser is quickly approaching! There has been a slight change in the start time on April 29th. The doors will open at 6:00 pm and the wheelchair basketball game will start at 6:30 pm. In addition to the game, there will be concessions, Aurelio's Pizza of Frankfort, Crumbl Cookie, a variety of activities for the kids, and an incredible amount of raffle prizes. Hope to see you there!

7th grade students had a great time visiting Springfield yesterday learning all about our state's government and history!










Tomorrow is the day! Mokena School District is hosting a Special Education Family Night on Thursday, April 23 at MES! There will be a variety of trucks to experience, as well as food trucks with food for purchase.
