As 6th grade scientists begin their ecosystems unit, they have been introduced to proper microscope use. Students practiced focusing techniques using a variety of prepared slides to build foundational skills. In the coming weeks, they will apply these skills as they observe live specimens under the microscope.

At the February Board of Education Meeting, the results of the district's efforts to support our country's veterans were presented to the Board and community by two of our teachers, Mrs. Arduino and Ms. Green. We are proud to announce that MES and MJHS raised $3171 towards Honor Flight, which will fund two veterans to embark on a special trip to Washington DC and MIS raised $721 towards the Wounded Warrior Project. Thank you to our students, families, and community for supporting these impactful projects!

Mokena Junior High hosted the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Solo and Ensemble Contest today. Congratulations to the many Mokena musicians who impressed the judges with their talents! Thank you to our wonderful music program directors for organizing the event not only for our students, but for student musicians across the area. Also, thank you to the many volunteers that helped to run the event and to the Music Boosters for running concessions and the photo area.
